The Dial
What I like about this handsome TAG Heuer Monaco watch fake version is that it doesn’t go too crazy. It does, in my opinion, exactly what a limited edition should do: offer the customer something completely on-brand, eternally wearable, and let the only unusual thing about it be the fact it is limited. The mostly black, white, and red dial is a classic sporty colorway that hands center stage to the watch case's iconic silhouette, that 39mm-wide waterproof square.
One of the nicest touches here is the use of orange hour dots, just kissing the tip of the red hour markers. Red and orange aren’t too often seen together, but the combination can occasionally bring a design to life, as it does here. Pairing these two colors on the dial is a nod to the "daring" decade that opened the current millennium.
The Case
The TAG Heuer Monaco Limited Edition 1999-2009 replica comes in a square-shaped and polished stainless steel case measuring 39mm x 39mm. The front side is equipped with a box-type sapphire crystal. The winding crown of the model is at 9 o’clock, a signature detail for the re-issue versions, and the angled chronograph pushers are on the right side of the case.
The Movement
Inside the case is the modern TAG Heuer Caliber 11 based on the automatic Sellita SW-300 that is modified with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module, providing a 40-hour power reserve when fully wound. A solid case back featuring the "1999-2009 Special Edition" and "One of 169" engravings covers the movement. This version has a 30mm diameter, 59 jewels, an operating frequency of 28,800vph, and a 40-hour power reserve.
